Dr. Linda Carr

  • Born and raised in Minnesota until college age
  • Resides in Arizona from October to April and travels the rest of the year; has lived in Ohio, Michigan, and Florida
  • Completed undergraduate studies at Andrews University (Michigan) in Zoology (B.A.) and Medical Technology (B.S.M.T.)
  • Graduated with a Master’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science from the College of Medicine at Michigan State University
  • Worked as a Staff Medical Technologist and later taught Chemistry and Clinical Laboratory Science courses in community colleges in Michigan
  • Founded and directed a clinical laboratory program in Florida (10 years)
  • Earned a Ph.D. in Higher Education and Adult Continuing Education at The University of Michigan (Areas of emphasis: Medical Education, Learning and Teaching, Faculty Development, Academic Administration)
  • Held several research positions at The University of Michigan (i.e., School of Education, Department of Graduate Medicine in the Medical School, Institute of Social Research, School of Business Administration)
  • First Medical Educator at the Michigan Campus of Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine
  • While serving as the Academic Specialist at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix, she worked with faculty at the teaching hospitals in the Valley, and provided coaching to medical students and residents on board preparation. Dr. Carr became the catalyst for educational innovations in student and resident competencies, faculty development, and overall scholarly activities.

    She developed and coordinated the following programs, which were offered annually:
    – Best Practices of Medical Educators Series
    – Best Practices for Residents Series
    – Innovations in Medical Education Event
    – The Bright Idea Network
    – The Readers Theatre
    – Faculty Learning Communities (launched in 2005 and co-directed with Dr. Cheryl O’Malley)

  • Has delivered over 100 presentations to healthcare educators/professionals including physicians, medical residents, medical students, nurses, optometrists, pharmacists, podiatrists, and veterinarians
  • Served as the Director of Academic and Faculty Development at Dignity Health – St. Joseph’s Hospital & Medical Center in Phoenix
  • Capitalizing on her rich background in medical education and successful faculty development innovations, she launched Faculty-Ed Solutions, LLC in 2009
